WICCAN SABBAT: SAMHAIN

Samhain (Sow-en) is a Scots-Irish festival that has been adopted by Wiccans and Neopagans. The Gaelic word means “summer’s end.” A time to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, this festival marks the height of the “dark time of the year” that began with the Autumn Equinox. The theme focuses on ancestral veneration, spirit work, offerings to the aos si (faeries), divination, and games.
