Caring Committee
The Caring Committee is a group of compassionate volunteers dedicated to supporting members of the community during times of illness, bereavement, loneliness, crisis, or other personal challenges. The committee helps foster a culture of kindness, connection, and mutual care by reaching out to individuals in need with emotional support, companionship, practical assistance, Spiritual Care, and expressions of concern from the larger community.
The purpose of the Caring Committee is to offer comfort, encouragement, and human connection in a spirit of empathy, respect, confidentiality, and compassion. The Committee may provide services such as phone calls, cards, visits, meals, transportation, or referrals to additional resources, depending on the needs of the individual and the capabilities of the organization. The committee also helps ensure that members experiencing difficult circumstances remain connected and valued within the community. Spiritual care may be offered by a UUA trained and certified individual.
The Committee is expected to communicate with each other and other congregants as frequently as necessary to remain informed as to congregational needs for care. The Committee shall meet as it deems necessary to fulfill its mission. The Chair shall report committee activities and recommendations to the CLC monthly and coordinate with ministerial leadership as appropriate.
