Worship Committee

The Worship Committee nurtures the spiritual life of the Fellowship by overseeing and supporting the planning, coordination and execution of Sunday worship and related programming.

The committee ensures that worship services are meaningful, inclusive, well organized, and reflective of the diversity, values and aspirations of the congregation.   Worship is understood as a shared ministry that engages mind, body and spirit through words, music, ritual and community participation.

Responsibilities of the Worship Committee include:

Sunday Worship Leadership and Planning

• Collaborate closely with the minister to shape the overall worship calendar, including themes, liturgical flow, and seasonal observations
• Support the identification, invitational, and coordination of Sunday speakers, including lay leaders, guest speakers, and community partners, in alignment with UU values and Fellowship priorities
• Endure continuity and quality of worship services when the minister is away or during periods of ministerial transition.

Service Execution and Coordination:

• Oversee the smooth execution of Sunday services, including logistics, roles, timing, and transitions
• Coordinate worship volunteers (e.g., service leaders, readers, ushers, the support, chalice lighters) and ensure they are supported, trained, and appreciated.
• Partner with staff and volunteers to ensure worship services are welcoming, accessible, and well prepared.

Program Development and Innovation:

• Organize and support special services (e.g, Multigenerational services, holiday service, rites of passages, lay led services)
